The Epistle of James is now Available!
October 3, 2017 by Sam Storms
Several weeks ago I announced that my entire series of sermon notes on the book of Hebrews was available on my website. Today I’m happy to tell you that all twenty-two lessons on the book of James are now posted. If you are unfamiliar about how to access these documents, simply click on Resources at the top of the Home page, and then on Articles. Look under Biblical Studies, and at the bottom of the list you will see both Hebrews and James. These twenty-two articles are essentially a verse-by-verse analysis of James. I hope and pray you will find them helpful in your life or ministry, or in both.

So, as we continue our study of the Protestant Reformation, we now turn to the Anabaptists and what they believed. Among those involved in the reformation in Zurich were some who believed efforts at purifying the church were moving too slowly. They called for a more radical break with Rome and with society as a whole. They insisted that...Read More ➔

The Second Death and Penal Substitutionary Atonement
By: Sam Storms
So, I want to talk a moment about hell. That’s right, hell. Let’s pause for a moment and give thanks that those who know and love Jesus “will not be hurt by the second death” (Rev. 2:11). This promise is found in our Lord’s letter to the church in Smyrna (Rev. 2:8-11) and calls for our careful examination. Continue reading... So, I want to talk a moment about hell. That’s right, hell. When we Suffer, how does it help to know Jesus is the “First and the Last”?
By: Sam Storms
In his letter to the Christians in first-century Smyrna Jesus described the nature and extent of their suffering. It entailed at least four dimensions. First, they were in the throes of “tribulation” and “poverty” (Rev. 2:9). These are so inextricably linked in the experience of the Christians in Smyrna that I list them as one. Second, they were being slandered (2:9). Third, some of them were about to be imprisoned for their faith (2:10a). Fourth,...Read More ➔

Last week we looked at ten things all of us should know about the life of John Calvin. Today we turn our attention to ten things concerning his theology.
